United Properties, TIAA-CREF Receive Trendsetters Award From Greater Minneapolis BOMA

Award Honors Normandale Lake Office Park’s Contribution to Quality, Character of Suburban Minneapolis Office Buildings

MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 10, 2004) — Normandale Lake Office Park has been honored with a Trendsetters Award from The Greater Minneapolis Building Owners Association (BOMA). The one-time award was given in late September in honor of the association’s centennial year at a celebration recognizing a century of achievements on behalf of the greater Minneapolis commercial real estate community.

Normandale Lake Office Park was honored for setting a new standard in suburban office parks by creating the Twin Cities’ first “destination” suburban office park. The 1.4 million square foot, four-building Class A Park is the largest suburban office campus in the Twin Cities and is home to nearly 90 companies and approximately 5,000 employees. Normandale Lake Office Park amenities include climate-controlled walkways, a lake with paved paths, on-site child care, free fitness centers, four restaurants and extensive service retailers.

TIAA-CREF has owned Normandale Lake Office Park since 1990. United Properties has managed and leased Normandale Lake Office Park for the past 14 years. It also acted as TIAA-CREF’s developer on the Park’s 8000 Tower, the fourth and final office building that was completed in May 2001.

“On behalf of TIAA-CREF, we are very honored to receive this special BOMA centennial award,” said Dave Dabson, United Properties assistant vice president and general manager of Normandale Lake Office Park. “Normandale Lake Office Park was a truly unique and groundbreaking project when construction began in 1983, and the Park has continued to set the bar for quality and amenities in suburban office space over the last two decades.”

More than 400 people attended the Greater Minneapolis BOMA centennial event, which included tributes to 18 individuals and companies who have provided vision, leadership, passion and commitment toward building a greater Minneapolis. The event also raised $22,000 for BOMA’s charity partner, Project for Pride in Living.
