Green Initiatives
Initiatives on sustainability and energy reduction are an important part of United Properties work as a developer and investor in the commercial real estate industry, where buildings have a profound impact on our natural environment, economy, health and productivity.
LEED Certification for Existing Buildings
United Properties has received LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) Silver certification for Northland Executive Office Center and Southpoint Office Center. United Properties plans to continue retrofitting existing properties to meet LEED-EB requirements.
LEED Certification for New Developments
United Properties is also beginning new developments with LEED certification in mind. One of the company’s recent projects is its first LEED Gold building: 8200 Tower at Normandale Lake Office Park in Bloomington. The tower is a 275,000-sq.-ft. building on property owned by one of United Properties’ biggest clients, TIAA-CREF.
Energy Star
Four buildings and one jointly-owned office park in the United Properties investment portfolio have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) prestigious Energy Star, the national symbol for superior energy efficiency and environmental protection. The recognition signifies that the buildings’ energy performance rates are in the top 25 percent of facilities nationwide. Totaling nearly two million square feet, the buildings that earned the Energy Star are:
