Bill Katter is Co-President of United Properties Investment (UPI) and President & Chief Investment Officer of United Properties Development (UPD).

Current Responsibilities
As President and Chief Investment Officer of United Properties Development he has responsibility for all new investment projects and all development personnel. Bill oversees all aspects of United Properties’ development activities, including land acquisition, entitlement, design, construction, company and project marketing, and project capitalization and disposition.

Bill co-leads the combined companies, United Properties (UP) with Matt Van Slooten, President and Chief Investment Officer of United Properties Investment (UPI). Bill serves as chair of United Properties’ Investment Committee and is a member of the Executive Team and the Board of Governors.

Past Experience
Prior to his executive leadership role at United Properties, Bill significantly impacted United Properties’ success, both in the Twin Cities and Denver. He was responsible for the purchase and/or development of more than five million square feet of office and industrial space for the company from 2006-2014. Notable projects in Minnesota include the development of the C.H. Robinson corporate campus in Eden Prairie, the acquisition of Plymouth Ponds Business Park, development of the LEED Gold 8200 Tower of Normandale Lake Office Park, the adaptive re-use of both 505 and 655 Nicollet Mall properties, the renovation of the Ford Center and Loose Wiles historic buildings, and development of the Be The Match headquarters in downtown Minneapolis. In the Denver market, Bill initiated the development of Enterprise Business Center, a two million square foot master-planned and award-winning industrial park.

Professional and Community Involvement
Bill is an active member of the National Urban Land Institute’s Industrial and Office Park Development Council. He is also a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the University of St. Thomas Real Estate Advisory Board.

Education
Bill earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities from the University of Minnesota.

Matt Van Slooten is the co-president and chief investment officer of United Properties Investment (UPI).

Current Responsibilities
As co-president, Van Slooten shares responsibility for United Properties with co-president Bill Katter, who also serves as president and chief investment officer of United Properties Development (UPD), for leading and guiding the combined United Properties organization into the future. Their co-leadership extends to brand and culture building, policy setting, strategic planning for growth and profits, and effective human resource development. As chief investment officer for UPI, Van Slooten is responsible for all aspects of portfolio and asset management of the company’s stable portfolio which represents more than 7 million sq. ft. across several markets, including Minnesota, Colorado, Wisconsin and Florida. Matt is a member of the UP-Investment Committee and the Board of Governors.

Past Experience
Matt brings many years of outstanding and progressive commercial real estate investment experience to this important role. He spent 25 years with Carlson Real Estate Company, advancing through all critical company roles leading ultimately to president of the organization, a post he held for 13 years. Most recently, Matt served as the president of commercial properties for CSM Corporation.

Professional and Community Involvement
Matt is an active member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP) and a past Chapter President of NAIOP Minnesota. He is also a recipient of the NAIOP President’s Award (2009). He is an active member of the Young President’s Organization (YPO), and served on the Minnesota Chapter board as the membership chair. While at Carlson Companies, he was the recipient of the Carlson Fellow Award for Leadership Achievement, the company’s highest honor.

Current Responsibilities
Brenda is an assistant vice president and senior investment analyst who manages the investment analyst team. Her team performs investment analyses for the entire real estate investment group of United Properties. This includes all aspects of the financial, market and property analysis. Brenda also performs portfolio management duties, which includes yearly budgeting, quarterly forecasts, and three-year strategic planning.

Past Experience
Brenda has been with the company for more than 30 years. Prior to her position as a senior investment analyst, Brenda was a corporate account manager. She worked with real estate accounting involving office, retail, industrial and multiple-family projects. Prior to that, Brenda was a senior property accountant.

Education
Brenda earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

In this role, Lynn is responsible for providing critical information for strategic decision making through financial analysis, research and administrative and tactical project support.  In addition, she takes primary responsibility for reviewing, improving and documenting business processes and tools throughout the company to enhance consistency and efficiency. Lynn is also an instrumental part of our Charitable Giving and Diversity & Inclusion committees and is also credited with creating and chairing our Credit Committee.

Past Experience
Lynn has ample experience in accounting and finance, as well as the non-profit sector. She began her career at Grant Thornton as a senior audit associate. Her passion for people, community and real estate then led her to serve in various finance roles at local affordable housing non-profits for six years.  Most recently, she was the finance manager for PRG until she joined United Properties in 2015 as a senior financial analyst. She was recently promoted to senior business analyst.

Professional and Community Involvement
Lynn is a current member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). She is also involved in the finance committee at her church, as well as the audit committee for the non-profit PRG.

Current Responsibilities
As senior vice president, Brandon leads project teams in the development and acquisition of commercial properties in the Twin Cities and select markets nationwide.

Past Experience
Brandon joined the United Properties Retail Brokerage group (now Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq) in 2004, working on tenant representation and landlord listing services. During this time he represented such retailers as Hollywood Video, T-Mobile, Fidelity Investments, FedEx Kinko’s and Pier1 Imports on site selection and lease negotiations.

From 2002-2004, prior to joining United Properties, Brandon worked with Island Def Jam Records in Hollywood, CA and Minneapolis, MN.  He developed the Def Jam Records college representative program in the Twin Cities, providing opportunities for volunteer college students to work with the record label on event planning and grassroots marketing campaigns. During this time he was directly involved in coordinating local marketing and public relations efforts for artists such as Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, DMX, Ja Rule and Ashanti, among others.

Professional and Community Involvement
Brandon served as the 2019 president of NAIOP’s Minnesota Chapter. As an active member of NAIOP, Brandon also served as chair of the Minnesota Chapter’s Public Policy Committee from 2013-2016. He is also a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and actively participates in ULI’s Urban Plan initiative. A part member of the ULI Young Leaders executive board, and past chair of the Commercial Real Estate Diversity Challenge.

Current Responsibilities
Josh Delk joined United Properties in April of 2020 as the executive vice president of Austin Commercial Development. As executive vice president, Josh will manage all aspects of the Austin commercial development, including the development of a strategic plan for the Austin market to align with United Properties’ corporate vision and culture.  He is responsible for recommending new areas of opportunity for the company in the Austin market, including working with jurisdictions to obtain subsidies and incentives to support the feasibility of projects as necessary. In addition, he recommends new investments in each of the company’s commercial product types, as well as developing strong, strategic relationships with joint venture partners, large tenants, tenant brokers, and investors.

Josh will also be responsible for the recruitment, management, coaching and professional development of the Austin commercial development staff, including recommending the hiring, promotion and overall staffing plans to the President, CIO Development, for the Minneapolis office.  Josh reports to Bill Katter and is a member of the executive team at United Properties.

Past Experience
Josh joins us from Transwestern, where he spent the last 13 years as a regional partner for central Texas and Florida, developing projects in excess of $600 million. He was responsible for all facets of these projects including conceptualization, site selection, acquisition, oversight of design, entitlements and construction, lease negotiations, asset management and asset sales. In particular, Josh was a key contributor to Transwestern’s entry into the multifamily arena, as well as the company’s expansion of the development platform into Phoenix, Denver, Tampa and South Florida. Josh’s experience is wide-ranging and aligned with United Properties’ intentions to develop and own land, office, industrial, retail and multifamily real estate projects.

Professional and Community Involvement
Josh is an active member of the Urban Land Institute. He has also been an active supporter of Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, a charity that donates shoes and socks to kids throughout the United States and the world, and KMFA, Austin’s listener-supported classical music station.

Josh earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Auburn University and his Master of Business Administration in real estate finance from the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business.

Current Responsibilities
Alex has been a member of the residential development group since 2005. In this role, he focuses on multi-family residential development in the Twin Cities. His responsibilities include project management as well as overseeing the residential property management group.

Past Experience
Alex joined United Properties in 1992 as a senior property manager. He was one of the four portfolio managers leading the property management division. In this role, he managed a nine-person team responsible for a diverse portfolio of more than six million square feet. Prior to joining United Properties, Alex was with Rubloff, Inc. in Chicago, where he managed properties on behalf of institutional owners.

Alex has been involved in local organizations such as BOMA and NAIOP. He was on the BOMA Board of Directors from 2003 through 2005. He obtained CPM and RPA designations.

As vice president of construction, Bill Jundt oversees all construction management services for the development team and assists with tenant improvement projects for the company portfolio.

Past Experience
Bill has 31 years of experience in commercial construction working on a vast scale of projects including Norwest Tower, Timberwolves Arena, The Grand Hotel, numerous medical facilities, Best Buy and JC Penney stores nationally, and 13 radio broadcast facilities.  Jundt worked previously for United Properties’ Construction Services, now RJM Construction, from 2004-2011.

Bill is a member of the Minnesota Shopping Center Association, International Council of Shopping Centers and former Vice President of Minnesota Construction Association. He is also a former member of the Minnesota Medical Group Managers Association.

Current Responsibilities:
Kevin Kelley, who joined United Properties in 2005, oversees all commercial real estate development activity in Colorado. He has more than 30 years’ experience in the development, acquisition, financing and disposition of properties representing nearly $4 billion in value. Kevin is also a member of the United Properties executive team.

Past Experience
Before joining United Properties, Kevin was with Miller Weingarten Realty in Colorado and Faison Associates in Charlotte, NC. In both roles, he was involved in the acquisition and development of retail centers. Prior to that, Kevin was involved in his own investment consulting firm, Renaissance Realty Group. He started his career in the mortgage banking and was employed with Northland Financial (now NorthMarq) and Baird & Warner Real Estate as a loan producer.

Kevin is currently serving on the 2016 NAIOP Colorado Chapter Board. Kevin was 2016 NAIOP Colorado Chapter President. He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Colorado and the University of Colorado Real Estate Council. In her new role as Senior Vice President of Development Operations, Renee is responsible for ensuring that all development projects are executed successfully in coordination with our development company and our development market leaders. This includes managing the project production reporting, established contractual milestone events and approval of new pursuits/commitments, contracts/vendors, process compliance and due diligence.  She will also be responsible for overseeing construction contracts, value engineering and other development processes while working closely with our corporate counsel, analyst and asset management teams.

Past Experience
Renee joined United Properties in March of 2020. A Twin Cities commercial real estate veteran, Renee spent 24 years at NTH, Inc., most recently as principal and senior project manager. Renee was responsible for managing multiple complex real estate, design and construction projects. She has a proven track record of exceeding budget expectations and managing decisions to meet critical project milestones while aligning client business goals with their real estate strategy. Renee worked on key projects such as Ecolab, HealthPartners and the Ordway Center of Performing Arts.

Renee was an active member of MNCREW from 2008-2019 and has been on the MSPBJ Woman Leadership Council since 2017. She has also been on the Visitation School Board since 2019.

As executive vice president of United Properties, Mark Nelson oversees all aspects of residential development, including expanding the company’s senior living business lines and entering new business lines such as market rate and workforce rental housing, as well as condominium development. An accomplished real estate professional with 29 years experience, Nelson has been a key manager of the company’s senior living business developing Applewood Pointe Cooperatives, Cherrywood Pointe Senior Living Communities, townhomes and single-family residential. Joining United Properties in 1999, Mark served as project manager on major office, industrial and medical projects totaling nearly one million square feet prior to focusing on senior living more than twelve years ago.

Past Experience
A nine-year career as real estate manager for Minnesota-based Holiday Companies gives Mark unique insight into problem-solving and managing the development process. Development, acquisition, disposition and property management experience provide a broad base of expertise for Mark to call upon while directing projects.

Mark is a member of the Twin Cities Housing Council for the Urban Land Institute and is currently serving on the Land Use Advisory Committee to the Metropolitan Council.

Current Responsibilities
After joining United Properties in 2019 as vice president of hospitality and residential development, Scott quickly made a noticeable impact on the company’s RBC Gateway project and other hotel pursuits. He was then named as vice president of hospitality and office development, where he is now responsible for site acquisition, project underwriting, design, development and construction for both Minneapolis and Denver markets.

Past Experience
Scott started his career at a Fortune 150 company working in a variety of positions, including finance and development. In these roles, he delivered several thousand residential lots in both large master planned developments and infill projects. After gaining a solid understanding of horizontal land development, Scott pursued vertical construction in Kauia, Hawaii, where he helped deliver an $80 million private luxury resort. He went on to manage two general contracting companies in the Lake Tahoe, California region where he was responsible for overall performance of portfolio in excess of $10 million. With more than 13 years of experience in the residential and hotel markets and partnering with major hospitality brands, Scott recently served 5 years with CSM Corporation in Minneapolis as the senior director of development and construction. In this role, he executed more than $200 million of lodging projects. His extensive understanding of the development cycle — from acquisition and entitlements to end construction — plays a key role in strong development opportunities and financial models.

Professional and Community Involvement
Scott has been a panelist at Hotel News Now and National Development Roundtable conferences and a speaker at industry events such as the Hotel Data Conference (2015 and 2016) and several local hotel symposia. In the past, he was an active volunteer at Twin Cities area Ronald McDonald Houses and has been featured in local media for helping spearhead hands-on and innovative community service projects for his team. Scott also dedicates his time to mentorships at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business and several other community organizations. And finally, Scott and his family are active members at the Minnesota Children’s Museum.

Al Petrie joined United Properties as vice president of accounting in May, 2020. In this role, he is responsible for oversight and leadership for accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecast projections and compliance.

Past Experience
Petrie brings more than 20 years of experience in accounting and a strong history of financial leadership and strategic planning to this role. A veteran of Pohlad Companies since 1999, Petrie began as an accounting supervisor at NorthMarq (formerly United Properties) and was promoted to corporate controller in 2004. In 2018 Petrie transitioned over to PaR Systems, where he served as a corporate accounting manager. During his time at NorthMarq and PaR Systems, he played critical roles in real estate, construction, development and service company acquisitions.

Prior to joining United Properties, Chris spent six years at NorthMarq Capital, serving most recently as vice president of production in the firm’s Seattle office. Early in his career, he served as operations director for the State of Minnesota on Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign as well as administrative and communications roles for Amy Klobuchar and the Democratic National Committee.

Current Responsibilities
As vice president, Jamie works within the asset management group and is responsible for a portfolio of properties that include both retail and industrial assets in Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. His duty is to create and maintain value within the company’s owned portfolio and leading day-to-day business management for his assigned properties.  This includes long-term capital expenditure planning, cash flow management, lease underwriting, acquisition due diligence, dispositions and formulating and executing annual business plan objectives. For the retail assets that cover the four states, Jamie maintains strong relationships with the anchor tenants and the local brokerage communities. Jamie also works alongside the development team on executing redevelopment strategies and assists with operations for various value-add retail properties.

Past Experience
Prior to joining United Properties in 2007, Jamie spent five years at Buell & Company in Denver where he was involved in the leasing, property management, accounting, and development activities of their portfolio.

Jamie is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) where he attends both local and national conferences and he recently completed a term on the planning committee for the Rocky Mountain Idea Exchange.

Jamie graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Md., with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at Washington, Jamie played lacrosse and won a Division III National Championship.

Alicia Rhymer is senior vice president of retail development of United Properties. In this role, Alicia oversees retail investment and development activities for the company. She has successfully nurtured a strong relationship with retailers and has managed a team internally and externally to build a pipeline in the single tenant retail net leased space.

Past Experience 
Alicia brings more than 11 years of development experience to United Properties. Previously, Alicia held the role of senior development director at Confluent Development LLC.  In that role, she led the company’s national retail development program, assisting clients with strategic retail expansion solutions in multiple markets across the country. She also served as a senior real estate representative with 7-Eleven, Inc. for 4 years.

Current Responsibilities
As assistant vice president, Ann manages the team of administrative professionals as well all office operations. Ann’s additional responsibilities include annual budgeting, document management and special projects for the Executive Team.  As a liaison to our partners in human resources, information technology, legal and marketing-communications, Ann provides communication and direction to the Executive Team on corporate matters. She has also taken on the additional responsibilities of leading the Steering Committee that is coordinating the design and move logistics for all Pohlad Companies moving to the RBC Gateway building.

Past Experience
Ann spent the first several years of her career at United Properties in Property Accounting where she supervised a team of property accountants. Her team was responsible for the financial reporting of more than 50 buildings. Ann also worked on several accounting initiatives moving to the development side of the business in 2007. Prior to joining United Properties, Ann was assistant controller with the University of Minnesota Foundation.

Professional and community involvement
Ann has been an active parent volunteer within the Bloomington Public Schools and is the founding president of the Jefferson Athletic Group (JAG), an all-sport booster club at Jefferson High School.  She is also a pianist at her church and a past volunteer with Gilda’s Club-Twin Cities and Bloomington Athletic Association.

Current Responsibilities
As Corporate Counsel, Laura serves as the organization’s internal legal resource and executive. She is responsible for providing expert real estate and strategic level advice for United Properties.

Past Experience
Laura most recently served as Senior Counsel at Empire State Development where she worked on complex multi-party real estate development projects in the New York Metro Area, including: the $1 billion redevelopment of Belmont Park into the new of home of the New York Islanders, a 435,000 square foot retail complex and hotel.  She also served as the sole in-house counsel to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation for the post 9/11 redevelopment of the World Trade Center and revitalization of Lower Manhattan. Current Responsibilities
As executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, Eric Skalland is responsible for leadership and oversight of all United Properties’ financial and administrative activities. In this role, he directs personnel in accounting, financial planning, internal and external reporting and tax planning. In addition, Eric oversees the legal, insurance, risk management and information technology operations of the company. He is a member of the executive team and investment committee and plays a lead role in the development and implementation of United Properties’ overall strategy. Skalland is also chair of the United Properties Charitable Giving Committee.

Past Experience
Skalland joined United Properties in 2007 as an assistant controller and was promoted to controller in 2010. He was promoted to chief accounting officer and vice president in 2014. Prior to joining United Properties, Eric served as a senior financial analyst at CBS Radio, Inc., and as a senior associate with accounting firm Grant Thornton. In addition to financial expertise, he has significant experience creating impactful corporate strategies and developing strategic partnerships.

Professional and Community Involvement
Skalland is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Minnesota Society of CPAs and the National Association of Real Estate Companies (NAREC). He also serves on North Memorial Health Foundation Board and Habitat for Humanity’s Multiplying the Impact Council. In 2018, he joined the Pohlad Audit Committee.

Current Responsibilities
Gordy Stofer joined the United Properties team in April 2016 and currently monitors capital markets, assists in sourcing equity capital (for both development and portfolio assets), and manages United Properties’ capital relationships.

Past Experience
Gordy brings more than 16 years of experience in the real estate and development field to his new role at United Properties. Most recently, he served as director of development for Hines Interests Limited Partnership in Denver. In that role, he oversaw the development of more than 1 million square feet of complex office development projects in downtown Denver.

Gordy is an active member of NAIOP Minnesota Chapter.

Current Responsibilities
As senior vice president of investments, Richard is the lead for all of United Properties’ financing and lender relationships. In addition, as the company’s most senior asset manager, Richard is responsible for many of the large assets in United Properties’ owned real estate portfolio. Within asset management, he provides supervision and direction to property managers and leasing agents and is responsible for lease underwriting, lease negotiation, and lease execution as well as the management of property capital investment. In his role, Richard is a senior leader for company joint venture relationships.

Past Experience
Prior to joining United Properties, Richard held financing positions at Allstate Life Insurance Company in its commercial mortgage lending group and in finance and acquisitions at The Balcor Company and The Griffin Companies. He began his career as a staff accountant in the tax department of Arthur Andersen & Company.

Professional and Community Involvement
Richard currently sits on the corporate board of directors of NAIOP where he will serve a three-year term (through 2021) as a local NAIOP liaison to the national organization, impacting its overall strategies and initiatives. He has also served on a NAIOP national capital markets forum, as well as the board of directors for the Minnesota Chapter.

As senior vice president of Retail Investment and Development, Keith Ulstad leads the company’s efforts relating to retail and mixed-use real estate acquisitions, development and re-development opportunities. The retail group is responsible for capitalizing on United Properties’ financial strength, market knowledge and tenant relationships in the retail sector to create value in our owned-asset and client portfolios. Its focus is grocery-anchored retail, mixed-use projects with a retail component, and single-tenant net based assets.

Past Experience
Keith has been actively involved in retail investment real estate for more than 30 years as a developer, asset manager and consultant. He has been responsible for the development or re-development of more than 25 shopping centers as an officer or partner at Carlson Companies, the Center Companies, Madison-Marquette, Realty Services and Oppidan Investment Company.

Professional and Community Involvement
He is a former chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Small Scale Development Council, an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA) and has been admitted to the American Society of Counselors of Real Estate (CRE).

Sarah Veith is the senior vice president of organizational development and human resources at United Properties. She is responsible for partnering with the leadership team to ensure that capable talent is engaged to achieve United Properties’ strategies and goals.  As a member of the Executive Leadership Council and Executive Team, Sarah leads the company’s talent and leadership acquisition and development, culture initiatives, organizational development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Past Experience
Sarah joined United Properties in 2016. She has more than 15 years of progressive human resources experience.  Prior to joining United Properties, Sarah served as a human resources consultant with Salo, LLC at the University of Minnesota Foundation.  She also spent more than nine years with Essilor Laboratories of America, where she served as a senior human resource business partner/director supporting over 35 locations and 1500 employees.

Sarah is an active member of the Twin Cities Society for Human Resources Management.  She also participates as a planning member for the NAIOP Diversity and Inclusion Roundtable.

Current Responsibilities
As vice president of asset management, Chris is responsible for setting and executing the strategic work plan for a portfolio of properties.  He is responsible for the asset management for more than 20 properties, including Ford Center, Loose Wiles, The Nordic, Kickernick, Nilfisk, Perbix, Staring Lake Corporate Center and Superior Office Center. Chris also participates on the acquisition, disposition and financing teams.

Past Experience
Chris has worked within The Pohlad Companies since 2003. He began his career as a loan officer with Builders Mortgage Company, which later became Meridian Construction Capital Group.  In 2011, Chris worked as a property manager with Meridian Land Company.  In 2015, he joined United Properties as a senior investment analyst before being promoted to his current role.

Chris received his Bachelor of Arts degree in financial economics from Gustavus Adolphus College.
