Current Responsibilities
As senior vice president of investments, Richard is the lead for all of United Properties’ financing and lender relationships. In addition, as the company’s most senior asset manager, Richard is responsible for many of the large assets in United Properties’ owned real estate portfolio. Within asset management, he provides supervision and direction to property managers and leasing agents and is responsible for lease underwriting, lease negotiation, and lease execution as well as the management of property capital investment. In his role, Richard is a senior leader for company joint venture relationships.

Past Experience
Prior to joining United Properties, Richard held financing positions at Allstate Life Insurance Company in its commercial mortgage lending group and in finance and acquisitions at The Balcor Company and The Griffin Companies. He began his career as a staff accountant in the tax department of Arthur Andersen & Company.

Professional and Community Involvement
Richard currently sits on the corporate board of directors of NAIOP where he will serve a three-year term (through 2021) as a local NAIOP liaison to the national organization, impacting its overall strategies and initiatives. He has also served on a NAIOP national capital markets forum, as well as the board of directors for the Minnesota Chapter.

Education
Richard received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington University and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin. He is a certified public accountant (CPA).
