DEI Commitment & Initiatives

We expect of ourselves…

  • We will recognize the uniqueness of all employees and value how a diverse team’s perspectives and experiences will help our organization.
  • We will grow and evolve our culture in ways that give all employees a sense of belonging, engagement, and opportunity.
  • We will listen, learn, and engage with partners in the wider community to push meaningful change beyond the walls of our organization.

These are priorities for us in thought, decision, and action because we believe that when talent and innovation thrive, we all will prosper — our employees, our businesses, and our communities.

DEI Committee:
UNITED Together

We uphold diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity at
United Properties. Our roots run deeper when we build diverse, inclusive, and equitable communities together.

Commitment

At United Properties, we are committed to demonstrating our values of diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity — both in our external and internal work.

We’re always thinking about how to do more, and do better, for our staff and for our communities. We’ve built a unique culture of respect, fellowship, philanthropy and volunteerism, and strive each day to welcome, hear, and value all voices with every effort.

Our DEI Committee was founded in 2017 and meets monthly.

United Together - Unifying & Nurturing Inclusion Through Equity & Diversity

The DEI Committee toured the redevelopment of The Coliseum building located on Lake Street in Minneapolis.  Badly damaged during the civil unrest in 2020, the 111-year-old building will be brought back to life and owned by three local BIPOC partners.

United Properties team members gathered outside Houston White Men’s Room, a barbershop in the Camdentown neighborhood of North Minneapolis which is also known as a gathering space for community building.  We learned about how Brandon Champeau and Houston White’s collaborative partnership began, how it has grown over the years, and their shared vision for White’s latest project — a three-story residential complex called Camdentown Flats, adjacent to his other businesses.

United Properties’ all company meeting was kicked off by international speaker, executive coach, and diversity, equity and inclusion leader Jesse Ross. He led us in a discussion on “Cultural Self-Awareness as a Tool for Effective Change”.
