Current Responsibilities


As executive vice president, Richard leads all United Properties’ financing and lender relationships. In addition, he is responsible for managing the company’s joint venture with State Farm in ownership of Centennial Lakes Office Park. Richard is a member of the company’s capital markets team which is responsible for raising equity and arranging debt for joint venture developments and acquisitions.

Past Experience

Prior to joining United Properties, Richard held financing positions at Allstate Life Insurance Company in its commercial mortgage lending group and in finance and acquisitions at The Balcor Company and The Griffin Companies. He began his career as a staff accountant in the tax department of Arthur Andersen & Company.

Professional and Community Involvement

Richard has sat on the corporate board of directors of NAIOP as a local liaison to the national organization, impacting its overall strategies and initiatives. He has also served on a NAIOP national capital markets forum, as well as the board of directors for the Minnesota Chapter, and a 2-year term as NAIOP Minnesota chapter treasurer.

Education

Richard received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington University and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and obtained his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license in November of 1980.
