As Brand & Communications Manager, Maria is responsible for overall strategic brand execution and development, internal and external communications, social media initiatives, media relations strategy and creative direction. She also serves as the company’s spokesperson.
With extensive experience in marketing and journalism and mass communications (both broadcast and print), Maria brings a diverse range of skills to all of her projects.
Maria joined United Properties in 2020. Prior to that, she ran brand, marketing and communications at Volunteers of America National Services, overseeing multiple teams in several states. Maria has creative storytelling, marketing, strategic communications and brand development expertise as well as deep industry experience managing, producing and overseeing communications strategies, deliverables and print & digital assets.
Professional Recognition and Community Involvement
Maria was recently named to Finance and Commerce’s “2021 Rising Young Professionals” list for her impactful and innovative leadership at UP.
She is passionate about giving back to her community, fostering talent around her and impacting change through extensions of her work. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she helped launch the “Cheer Mail” campaign at VOA. This initiative, which sends letters to seniors to fight isolation and boost morale during the global crisis, was successfully implemented with critical speed in all senior living communities and care centers across the nation.
In the community, she has served as a volunteer and mentor at Maxfield Elementary in St. Paul’s Frogtown Neighborhood, Urban Ventures, Meals on Wheels, Samaritan’s Purse, Feed My Starving Children, and with her church.
She is an active member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association and PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) in both local and national chapters.
Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications from Bethel University.
